Parent Participation
Parental involvement is an important part of our programs and there are many ways that a parent can participate. Our Parent Board is always looking for parents to take on leadership or supporting roles in facilitating many school operations and events. Within the classrooms, teachers welcome interested parents who want to share particular skills/hobbies (i.e. cooking, woodworking, playing musical instruments, story telling, and/or art skills), or who can assist with holiday parties or contribute to classroom enrichment.
Board Volunteer
Ravinia Nursery School prides itself on being a parent-run school. We believe that both parent and child benefit from close communication between parents and the school, and we offer many ways for parents to get involved in their children’s education. We encourage parents to participate in their child’s experience and provide many opportunities to do so, whether it be on the General or Executive Board, or volunteering in the classroom.
Classroom Volunteer
Throughout the school year, teachers welcome parents to bring their talents to the classroom, read a story aloud to the class, become a playground parent, a play dough maker, or a party planner hosting one of three holiday parties at school. Other special events throughout the year bring families together such as Fall Festival, Undernighters, and Special Guest Day. In addition, numerous community building activities throughout the year enable parents to bond and strengthen the home-school connection.
